10 QUESTIONS with VIC: Featuring MICHELLE VISAGE

Internationally renowned Star, platinum-selling recording artist, author and a Judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race are not the only reasons why we love Michelle Visage. She is a humble as she is famous, as approachable as she is worshipped and as real as she is glamorous. In an era when titles are passed around like hotcakes, Michelle has earned hers as an ICON, not only in the LGBTQ community but far beyond.

You graciously accepted my request to be a Judge for the 2nd Annual WeHo GoGo Fest in 2012 and you were a HIT, do you remember that?
I AM NOT THAT OLD!

Modesty aside, how would you describe yourself?
An honest, tough, street smart, wise ass with a marshmallow filling who wants everyone to get along.

What kind of connection do you have to West Hollywood and what do you like about it?
WeHo is by FAR one of my favorite places in LA proper and if I didn’t have to worry about schools I would be there in a heartbeat! When my girls leave for college in the next 4 years we will be moving down to WeHo most likely. Walking down Santa Monica Blvd feels like home to me. It is free, it is gay, it is love, it is HOME.

With great fame and all that love you, can you still go in public without being noticed?
Part of this biz is being noticed. The great thing about me is a lot of people don’t know what I look like out of drags and also, unless I am in the gayborhood it’s now and again, but in an LGBT setting its all of the time and I WOULDN’T HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY! I am who I am because of THIS COMMUNITY and I will never ever forget that, that is why I am a loyal bitch!

Biggest pet peeve?
Stupid people. no common sense. pushing IN to an elevator WHEN I HAVEN’T GOTTEN OUT YET! bitch, you can’t go anywhere till I get OUT!
What’s new on your play list?
My playlist is entirely composed of Broadway musicals with random old school hip hop sprinkled in for good measure, so you will go from Funny Girl to Slick Rick in the blink of an eye.

Biggest turn-on?
Intelligence laced with a wicked sense of humor. And a big dick always helps.

What’s your favorite charity or cause?
GMHC in NYC, Jeff Griffith Youth Center LA, True Colors Foundation and The Trevor Project to name a few. I have a daughter that is coming out of 3 very dark years of suicidal depression. It was beyond tough to say the least, so I want to start to get involved with mental health charities for kids and teens as they are not visible enough. People brush it off too easily and this pain needs to be validated and these kids need to know that they are heard and that they matter.

Which living person do you most admire?
Well, there will always be my Madonna, I know it’s the obvious choice as everyone knows my obsession but we forget how much this woman has done over the years, not just for the LGBT community but for women and women in pop music! Then there is the other obvious choice; Ru. I have watched RuPaul go from club kid to global phenomenon and not only am I in awe every day of what he has and continues to accomplish, but to be by his side through the majority of it has been such a gift. I love him so.

Tell me a secret
I don’t wear panties….

THANK YOU FOR HAVING ME VIC!!! big loves to you
